The Crochet Answer Book

Storey Publishing The Crochet Answer Book STO-75982, 1 Item(s)/OrderReviewsI had a few problems with my crocheting technique which this book helped me address. Instead of just how to make a single crochet, it answers questions like why my circle won't lay flat or how to increase smoothly and how to keep the edges straight. I keep this little book with me whenever I crochet just in case I run into trouble. It is a nice reference. The only thing I dislike is finding the answer to my problem through the index is tedious. Wish there was a better way. Average Rating:![]() |

The Knitting Answer Book: Solutions to Every Problem You'll Ever Face; Answers to Every Question You'll Ever AskReviewsEveryone's comments about how great this book is, are so accurate. I am very glad I bought this book. It has been a fantastic resource for me, a moderately experienced knitter. Highly recommended. I highly recommend this book. The illustrations are very clear. I've had no trouble at all finding what I need using the index. You can also browse through the appropriate chapter to find what you need, the chapters aren't that long. My mom, a veteran knitter, was very impressed and I've been able to tackle harder patterns because of this book. I rather like the way it's organized and the clear font and spacing make it easy for me to read; I don't lose my place. The small size and "perfect binding" make it easy to use. I received this book and so far I'm happy with it. I had a question about a knitting term and picked up the book and was able to find my answer quickly. There is a lot of information in it and I plan to keep it handy for future reference. I have knitted for many years but have only made fairly easy projects. This book will help me read more difficult patterns and I've found it easy to understand. This book really does have most if not all the answers to the questions you might have as you learn how to knit. It was hard to get used to finding things in the question and answer format - but now I'm used to it, and it's like any other book. No question is a dumb question, and the author takes the time to answer each one. In my opinion this is the best book for any level of knitter. Over the years I have purchased many books and discovered this one last summer. Wow, what a super surprise. A must have for every knitter and at a reasonable price. Average Rating:![]() |

The Crochet Answer Book: Solutions to Every Problem You'll Ever Face; Answers to Every Question You'll Ever Ask (Answer Book (Storey))ReviewsGood book. Clearly written. Answers most questions. It would be better if it was spiral-bound to make it easier to hold open to the page of interest. I use it for a reference book & other times just flip through it to learn something new & the best part is, it's small enough to carry in my project bag. My only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner! So many good reviews for this book, but its true, it has alot of good information in it, and none of the filler material or patterns that pad most how to books. Just all the info your hunting, a great index to access it, I checked this out at my library and decided I wanted a copy for my crochet library. I have been crocheting more than 30 years, and I still found this book to be one I wanted for my permanent collection. My mom loved it too... I often check this book to clarify how to do stitches when I'm working on a project. The details are clear and the pictures are easy to follow. The book also includes lots of general information, for example, yarn types and weights, that is very helpful. Wow ! Absolutely everything one wanted to learn is definitely in this book. It is in excellent condition; very pleased with the order. Now, I can start again....... Average Rating:![]() |

Mason-Dixon Knitting: The Curious Knitter's Guide: Stories, Patterns, Advice, Opinions, Questions, Answers, Jokes, and PicturesReviewsThis is a delightful book with some very nice patterns included. I especially like the dish cloth! Not only does this book have some lovely ideas for knitters, it is a jolly good read to boot. I found myself laughing out loud to some of the witticisms written into explanations and little ditties from the authors. Even if you're not a habitual knitter, this book is a fine candidate to anyone's library if for nothing more than sheer enjoyment. These ladies provide the support and comaradie of a knitting circle that you can join without leaving your favorite chair - great fun! I'm returning it today. Started knitting about a month ago and have pretty much exhausted people to give scarves to. I bought this book thinking it was good for beginners and that I would find a few good projects. But I am not excited about dishcloths or pillowcases or other home items. I want to knit things I and my loved ones can wear. There were two patterns that caught my eye-- the nightgown and robe. They both looked so pretty, but after I read the instructions, I realized that I couldn't make them using the book. They say to knit in "seed stitch" for a large number of rows, but they never explained WHAT seed stitch is. I know only garter and stockinette. I couldn't believe that they included instructions on how to make one and yarn over (if anything, even more basic!), but nothing on this seed stitch! Not worth the money. Update: I found an explanation of seed stitch online, and it is pretty easy. I still wish they had explained it though, it would have taken one sentence: "A seed stitch is knit 1, purl 1, repeated until the end of the row." So, still not a book for beginners. I love their style and the pactical projects. No boring knitting here!! I almost always make gifts for those I care about from one of the Mason Dixon Knittng books. Average Rating:![]() |
