I enjoyed this book so much! Stephanie inspired me with her humor and easy to follow instructions! However, I have one observation. I made her no-pattern hat out of a lovely soft bulky tweed and used her measuring techniques. When finished, the hat fit my head but was not snug at all. It seems to me if you have a 22-inch head, you would want a hat somewhat smaller to stretch over your head and fit snuggly (especially a knit hat meant to keep you warm!). After some trial and error I completed a lovely rolled edge hat and gave it to my mother to enjoy and it fits her perfectly. After a month of knitting this was my first completed project! Stephanie Pearl-McPhee is an inspiration!

If you are Knitter, this book will entertain you through out. Could not put it down.Only knitters can relate to her. If you are a non-knitter, you will think us knitters are crazy.Stephanie you are the BEST!

This book is chock-full of tips and techniques for those who already have shelves of pattern books, but there are enough patterns included to keep everyone happy. I consider the Basic Sock Pattern reason enough to keep this book around, but there's lots more. Definitely a keeper, and I'll be buying more from Stephanie Pearl McPhee.

If you are a beginning knitter or a seasoned veteran: you need this book. Aside from being hilarious, this reference book addresses what patterns, yarn companies, and salespeople do not, and that is, WHY gauge is essential (and when it is not) and WHY yarns behave the way they do, based on an array of variables. In many ways, this book supports what many knitters do intuitively. Knitting is a mechanical exercise and yet, the best results emerge when a knitters rely on their intuition to gauge whether or not the pattern is working for the desired result. This book fills in the gaps for the newbie knitter who may not yet have those seasoned intuitive skills, and yet, it also guides the seasoned knitter who may want to change up the pattern, the yarn, or the gauge. In other words, the "yarn harlot" eliminates much of the guesswork and head scratching. The book also includes a simple and (almost) fool-proof recipe for knitting socks. (Fools are on their own!) All of the above is woven (no pun intended) into a narrative that will give you chuckles as you think to yourself... Oh, so I am not the only one! Enjoy!

This book is full of great designs from the sweater on the cover to lots of cute accessories. Instructions are clearly written out and easy to follow. The only downside is I can't decide what I want to make next!

I love this book! I purchased it soley for the sweater on the front cover, and was/am sooo pleased to find the inspirational quotes and scripture. The crocheting tips, are great too!

I've already made a number of projects from this book, and I am currently working on the cover project. The thing I like most about this book is the variety of projects. There are the basics, like scarves and sweaters, and then there are some really original ideas, like crocheted rings made out of metallic thread and beads, and a little purse keyring to hold your keys. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, making the projects manageable for any level of crocheter. I definitely recommend this book!

Thsi book is just ok, nothing to write home about or work up a sweat. Rozy

"Positively Crochet" is a very good book. Most of the designs are more modern than the usual crocheted items. I have already made the tangerine sweater and the sari silk purse. The directions are clear and the photos helpful. I recommend this book highly!

this was way too difficult for my intermediate level of crochet and instructions were vague at best. no actual patterns to get you started. a disappointment for me.

This is a great way to use leftover yarns from other projects..make pillows, scarves, purses, hats, etc. Very inspiring book.

If you are looking for life changing book, keep shopping. But if you have $14 and want beautiful pictures of some truely fine art - by all means purchase this book. The author is very talented, and the book contains several photographs of truely awe-inspiring work. It does not have pattrns, or even a lot of instruction on how to take your piles of motifs & join them together to actually create something. I guess if you don't have this gift of vision, buying this book won't give it to you. What is does have, though are a ton of color photos of individual motifs, and great instuctions on creating these individual motifs. These tips can be used to dress up any pattern you are already working to make it just that bit more special. This book may not change your life, but you probably will use it to enhance the patterns you are already working.

i've never been a big freeform fan, but this book has inspired me to try new things!

it's good quality and when me and my friends hacky sack we always use mine cause it's the best. ive had it for a while now and it has not busted open or lost any of it's inner goodness.

This is a sweet ball. It survived being washed in my son's pocket without suffering anything but a slight shrinking, and leaving no stain!!! Now it's all stretched out again and rockin'! Good product!
